On behalf of our client, Manpower Malta is seeking to recruit an Assistant Payroll Officer.

The selected candidate will support the payroll function within a dynamic organisation operating in the yachting industry. The role involves assisting with the processing and administration of payroll services for crew members, shore-based employees, and related entities, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable employment, tax, and social security regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for yacht crew members and shore-based employees.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including salaries, allowances, bonuses, deductions, leave entitlements, and other employee-related information.
  • Ensure payroll data is entered accurately and processed within established deadlines.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding processes from a payroll and administrative perspective.
  • Support the preparation of employment documentation, payroll summaries, and reports.
  • Liaise with crew members, clients, captains, managers, and relevant stakeholders regarding payroll-related matters.
  • Assist in the calculation and processing of leave, overtime, sickness benefits, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Maintain employee databases and ensure payroll records remain up to date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of statutory payroll-related reports and documentation.
  • Reconcile payroll data and investigate discrepancies where necessary.
  • Support compliance with employment legislation, tax obligations, social security requirements, and company procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to the payroll, corporate, and compliance teams as required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll processes and internal controls.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in payroll administration, accounting, HR administration, or a related field will be considered an asset.
  • Experience within the yachting, maritime, shipping, or corporate services sector would be advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of payroll principles and employment-related regulations.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
